Explore the Natural Beauty of Harbor Country
Let’s Hike
Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana are among the country’s most geologically and biologically diverse regions, and there’s no better way to explore them than from the the trails of the area’s parks and preserves.
That’s why a group of local residents has formed Harbor Country Hikers, a club that conducts themed hikes and presentations aimed at exploring our geology, history and plant and animal life. We invite you to join us.
We hike throughout the year and recruit hike leaders to cover a wide range of topics such as nature photography, birding, wildlife viewing, seasonal hiking, pre- and post-settlement history, local geology and more. And, we work with city, township and county park boards, and conservation groups, to create joint activities and provide support for their trails with amenities and trail stewardship.
We also vary the length and terrain of our hikes to accommodate a range of physical demands, from short to long, easy to strenuous. We want to make Harbor Country hiking available to everyone.
We look forward to hiking with you.
