Explore the Natural Beauty of Harbor Country
Dear Friends,
Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana are among the country’s most geologically and biologically diverse regions, and there’s no better way to explore them than from the trails of the area’s parks and preserves.
That’s why a group of local residents formed the Harbor Country Hikers, a group that plans themed hikes and presentations aimed at exploring our geology, history, plant and animal life. We invite you to join us.
We hike throughout the year and recruit hike leaders to cover a wide range of topics such as planting natives, birding, wildlife viewing, all-season hiking, the secrets of wildflowers, pre- and post-settlement history, and more.
We work closely with city, township and county park boards, and conservation organizations, to create joint activities and provide support for their trails with amenities and trail stewardship.
We vary the length and terrain of our hikes to accommodate a range of physical demands, from short to long, easy to strenuous. We recently purchased an All-Terrain Rollator which can be reserved for our hikes. We would like to open up the great outdoors to everyone.
Become a member of Harbor Country Hikers. Annual dues are $20 for individuals and $30 for families, and children and grandchildren are welcome to join us as long as they’re accompanied by an adult.
We look forward to hiking with you!
Pat Fisher, President Harbor Country Hikers
