Explore the Natural Beauty of Harbor Country
When the Harbor Country Hikers began eight years ago, we weren’t much more than an idea and a handful of local residents who believed that idea was worth exploring. Today, we have over 300 members. We’ve sponsored or co-sponsored more than 250 hikes and other events. This past year we traveled as far as Kalamazoo for our first all-day hiking adventure. We purchased an All-Terrain Rollator which can be reserved for our hikes. We’re working with the New Buffalo Elementary School on a program that introduces youngsters to the natural wonders in their own backyard. We helped bring the MSU Extension Michigan Conservation Stewards Program to Berrien County and are currently helping with an MSU Extension 2025 Berrien County Naturalist Program. Our support is sought—and freely given—for initiatives that create new trails or improve existing ones. We’ve been featured on the front pages of local newspapers, magazines, and TV news. We’re well into an ambitious program to create and install standardized trail markers and have donated over 20 benches for parks and preserves in Harbor Country.
Perhaps more importantly, we’ve all gotten to know some of our neighbors a little better and gotten to know some of our neighborhoods a little better, too. Altogether, we’re off to an amazing start, thanks to members like you.
We hope you’ve enjoyed your membership in the Hikers over the past year and will continue to show your support by renewing for another year. Individual memberships are still just $20 and family memberships are still $30.
